NO-COMPLY 15-YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY
3/09/2022
On Friday, February 25th, throngs of skate enthusiasts descended upon the Empire Garage and Control Room in Austin, TX, to celebrate No Comply skateshop’s 15-year anniversary. Despite the 30-degree weather, all the homies showed up to enjoy some bands, beers, videos and free vibes. There was even a big surprise for two of the attendees. Who were they and what was it, you might ask? You gotta scroll to find out, yo. No free rides. —Michael Sieben

Lord Lightheart (aka Zach) Emceed the event. Gotta have a hype man
DJ Bubby Mane warmed up the chilly crowd
Followed by local legend Lexito
JD Clark and the Stuck in the Mud Band brought the Texas-Country vibes, adding some regional specificity to the festivities
And Pinky Rings absolutely slayed it. I need some of their energy
And what would a skate party be without a tiny little halfpipe? It would be total crap, that’s what it would be
So who the hell was in attendance? Rob, Lake, Cristo and Max J were definitely there
Justin, Mikey, Chowder and Dante, crushin’ cans and flippin’ birds
John, David, Drew and Wil—H-Town showing up
Matt, Keagen, Trey and Luke. I was never this cool, never will be
Sean, Mikey and Ed posting up in front of the No-Comply backdrop. Sobriety is a state of mind
Max T, Ed and Max J (with Dakota in the background looking like Jeremy Fish’s doppelgänger)
Dante, Hawkeye, Cosmo and Justin. Guess whose dad is in this photo
Cosmo and Lydia
Cosmo and Paloma
Flint and Cosmo. Damn, how many photos is Cosmo in?
Stevie, Calvin, Zach and Bobby—some of my favorite humans
Jes, Zach and Austin. Wait, is that the dude from…
Kat and Ryan. R-Thomp got that Blue Steel
Kevin and Alexis
Ellie and Igna
Calvin and John, both of whom have videos hitting the site this month (maybe even this week!)
Reese and Esma. Reese has no clue what’s in store for him
Matt and Trey, probably tripping out on the Loki 2 vid
We hired a mariachi band for the big surprise
The big surprise being—immediately after the new Roger R11VM video premiered…
…two riders were ambushed with their debut pro planks
David Langston and Reese Barton, you are no longer eligible to enter the Tampa Am
I think they were genuinely caught off guard
Garrett might have been more hyped than anyone. And there’s Cosmo again
Checking the spelling…
They got it right!
Time to let the suds fly
You know the drill
If you can stoke out the youth, you gotta be doing something right. Huge thanks to everyone who made this night happen and to everybody who came out to support the shop and the scene. Shout out to Yeti, Voodoo Ranger, New Belgium Brewing (we see you, Dave), Roger Skate Co. and Empire Garage and Control Room. Oh, and shout out to me for writing this event post. I think I did a great job. And if you’re wondering who David Langston and Reese Barton are and why we turned them pro, keep your eyes glued to this site, as both of them have video parts (hell, David has two) dropping soon. Later, skaters. See you at the 16th anniversary party. Hopefully my COVID PTSD will have chilled out a bit by then.
